Tiiiired. But sleep is a secondary concern when there is Kamelot to be had!

(As are chemistry practical assessments and physics mock exams. >>;; On the plus side, at least I didn’t have a week long geography field trip right after the Kamelot concert this time?)

So. Photos. Despite getting there three and a half hours early – and finding there were already twenty or thirty odd people already queuing outside the venue, goddamnit – I still only managed to get in the second row from the front (just off-center from the middle). Which is not bad at all really, but still. Maybe it’ll be a progressive thing. Last year I was third from the front, this year second, and next year I’ll make it to first! Right? *hopeful look*

Anyhow. When I managed to stick my camera between the heads of the two people in the row in front of me – one of whom was, of course, at least a head taller than me, and was constantly sticking their arm in the little space I did have to see through – I did get some pretty good pictures, so… onwards to photospam?

Oh, right. I did say I was gonna take a photo of my outfit, and I don’t think Sky ever got to see it, so we’ll start with that. Crappy mirror photo. They always are. Sorry.

Photobucket

It’s kinda hard to see, so basic summary; net top with draped sleeves, corset with silvery embroidery patterns, poofy skirt, choker/collar thing with a cross, leather jacket, boots. I didn’t think this was too extraordinary – I don’t have any clothes that are really extraordinary *sigh* - but I seemed to attract a lot of weirdoes for some reason. One handed me a booklet of vampire poetry on my way up to London (do I look like I want your vampire poems? …well, I guess maybe I kind of do. But still. Weird), some other random person wanted to take my photo, and then another said they liked my boots and kept asking what I was writing when I was sitting in the queue (which, considering what I was writing was steadily progressing towards yaoi at that point, I didn’t fancy explaining >>). People. Huh.

Now. On to things of actual relevance, that being the concert. Two support bands; the first was called Adagio, and I know nothing regarding them apart from that there is a really awesome fanfiction by the same name. During the concert, however, I learnt that their lead singer was wearing what looked suspiciously like bondage cuffs, their drummer looked very vaguely like Angeal with a goatee (no pictures, I’m very sorry to say, as he was the drummer. It is pretty much impossible to get good photos of the drummers >.<), and their guitarist looks somewhat like a not-really-quite-so-pretty version of rockstar!Lestat, a la Lestat/Queen of the Damned. The latter I do have a photo of.

Adagio [London '10]

(He has an anhk. I didn't notice that before. XD)

Oh, what? I should actually say something about the music, since it was a concert and all? Ha. That would be logical. *cough* Well, I dunno. I’m not so great at commenting on things like that. But in my opinion, they had some nice keyboard introductions/solos, but most of the time it was a bit too much wall-of-noise as opposed to melodic for my tastes. But then, that might just be the live setting that gives that impression, so eh.

Second support band were of more interest – one I’d actually heard of, for once! Leaves’ Eyes, and if you haven’t heard any of their songs, you should look them up. Elegy is their epic timeless one, which they did live and I was very pleased about. I do think they sound better in the studio, though. The lead singer was still incredible, and can sing just as well live as on the albums, but the actual background playing was a bit ordinary, as Colin would say.

Liv Kristine (said lead singer) also gets bonus points for having an awesome outfit of awesome.

Leaves' Eyes [London '10]

And one of their guitarists, for good measure. (I have heard the band, but I don’t know them well enough to know the members by name. >>) Why do all the guys in these bands have longer hair than I do? *jealous*

Leaves' Eyes [London '10]

They were also well-known and popular enough to all gather together and do a little bow on stage, so I actually managed to get a photo of the entire band at the same time as well, whoo!

Leaves' Eyes [London '10]

Short interlude, in which I Wish I Had An Angel came on (cause they play background music while swaping over keyboards and drumkits and testing mics and what have you) and everyone sang along to that. XD Theeeeeeeen, Kamelot!

Setlist to start with;

Ghost Opera
Eden Echo
The Great Pandemonium (this is one of the songs that's gonna be on the new album)
The Human Stain
Center Of The Universe
Wander
(Instrumental/bass solo thing)
Pendulous Fall
When The Lights Are Down
(Keyboard solo)
The Haunting
Hunter's Season (another one of the new songs)
Rule The World
(Drum solo)
Forever
Un Assassinio Molto Silenzioso/Black Halo
Season's End
Karma
March Of Mephisto

New songs sound awesome. Kinda hard to tell live, but I am very hopeful for the new album (not that I wasn't before - this is Kamelot, 'course it's gonna be awesome). They said during the concert there's a new tentative release date for June sometime. June. T^T

Also, I have discovered one disadvantage to being down the front. Well, two. The first being it is squishy as hell, but that's pretty much a given. The second... might be slightly hypocritical of me actually, but there were times I couldn't actually hear Khan over all the other people around me singing along. Hypocritical, because yes, I sing along like no end. But at least I sing. Not just tunelessly scream out the lyrics. (The new songs were good for that cause no one knew the words, so we couldn't sing along, and thus I actually got to enjoy Khan's voice properly. XD)

Anyways. Photo tiem!

Kamelot [London '10]

Doesn't Khan have an awesome coat? Oooh, lemme see if I can find another picture with the coat...

Kamelot [London '10]

Well, this is another awesome coat, if not the same one. (I'm posting these all completely out of order, sorry! >.<) I don't think that photo is zoomed in at all - he was literally three foot away quite often.

Kamelot [London '10]

Keyboardist Oliver Palotai. I actually got a decent picture of him, whut? (The keyboard players are almost as hard to get pictures of as the drummers.)
But, if I've managed one impossible picture, why not go for another?

Kamelot [London '10]

Casey Grillo! ... Don't those drums look kinda like they're staring at you...?

Kamelot [London '10]

Fun and games with the lighting and smoke machine. XD

Kamelot [London '10]

From The Haunting, the obligatory duet. I.... don't actually know who the female singer is. *fails >.<*

Kamelot [London '10]

It also appears obligatory that Khan tries to eat her though. XD
(Her pants scare me somewhat... o_o)

Kamelot [London '10]

Tall Khan is tall. Well, the angle doesn't help... >>;;
Y'know, I think I may have given myself neckache staring up so much. Ah well.

Kamelot [London '10]

Bass guitarist, Sean Tibbetts. He tended to play directly in front of me quite a lot of the time, and at the end he held his guitar out over the audience, so I got to poke it. =D

Kamelot [London '10]

Other guitarist, Thomas Youngblood. He vanished off stage to play the beginning of Forever from this random balcony you see here, which was an interesting twist. If it took us all a minute or so to realise where he actually was. ^^;;

Kamelot [London '10]

And the both of them together! This photo would have be absolutely awesome, in a really cheesy kinda way, if only those other hands/cameras weren't in the way. *sigh*

Kamelot [London '10]

Smiley Khan! I was quite pleased to get this photo, ‘cause he does have a tendency to look like he’s possessed when singing. Which is admittedly somewhat creepy.

And have some more random Khan phoots, just cause you can always do with more Khan. ^^

Kamelot [London '10]

Final bow at the end! Whoo!

I hung around a bit afterwards to try and get a setlist. Failed, because the annoying tall guy in front of me and whoever he was with did likewise and got them instead. I did get mildly bitchy about that, as those two both got two setlists each (one for Leaves' Eyes, one for Kamelot. Each.) which I thought was somewhat unfair. Sulked a bit, then happened to find one of the guitar picks Thomas Youngblood had been using and had thrown into the crowd, but must've gotten dropped and no one else had managed to find it, so it was just lying there on the floor. Did a little happy dance (not literally) and was somewhat mollified by my new acquisition, so all was well. ^^

So, yosh. Epic fun tiems were had, but now I do believe that sleepies are in order. Good night, dears! *goes to crash on the nearest soft surface*

P.S. Somebody, please, pleasepleaseplease teach me how to resize the photos! >.<
