Beware the photo spam...

Hullo! Katy hast been on another of her silly, uber-long walky quests, and thus a photo spam is in order ^^
Unfortunately I don’t have the one photo that I wanted and that was the point of the whole quest *sigh* I was trying to walk to Buckland you see, just for the pure lol of it, and was going to take a picture of their lovely wrought-iron sign. But alas. I had no idea where Buckland actually was in terms of footpaths, having only been there by car before (I looked it up on the map when I got home – if I’d gone 100 or so metres further and followed the path downwards instead of going up when I did I would have got there. Argh! >.<)
All the same, it was a rather interesting – if also foot-killing – walk. It also proved that you should never let me roam freely, as I will, if the occasion arises, do very stupid things to aid my exploration… like climb down a man-hole. (It was half open and I couldn’t resist…^^;;) I also clambered around an old half-ruined house, an underground building with no doors (a problem I didn’t discover until after jumping down through a window >.<) and a fort.

You can’t see it in this picture, but there were a lot of cows in that field. Not that it’s relevant. I just felt like mentioning it
This would have been a very nice picture were it not for the splatter in the middle of the compassy thing
Pretty flowers! I haven’t done close up macro-y flower things for ages. Hmm, p’rhaps I should take more macro photos… *contemplates*
So! Thursday morning, should have been at school but on study leave woot woot, lovely drizzly day unlike all this horrid sunny weather we’ve been having recently, decided to go for uber-long walk blah blah blah… nothing interesting until, in a (failed) attempt to follow the North Downs Way, I came across a man-hole, half open and looking most intriguing. After dithering about for some minutes, I finally decided to go down.
Into the depths of the… uh… hole. Thing.
Photo courtesy of my camera’s flash (I couldn’t see a thing down there…) *pats flash appreciatively* ^^
I got covered in mud doing that. And the ladder was all slippery cause it’d been raining… Bleh. But still kinda fun ^^
After escaping the ebil tunnel-y-ness I managed to completely lose the path I was supposed to have been following. But I did find this…
… though I have no idea what this is. It was in someone’s backyard o_O
In the end I did find the path I was supposed to be following, but by the time I’d discovered it I’d already made a huge and rather tiring circle and was more or less back where I’d started >.< The good thing was that I managed to go via a road we go down every day to school and that I had noticed had a lovely looking stick leaning against a gate somewhere along its course. It turned out it was a very nice stick indeed, so at least I got a walking stick out of my detour ^^
Anyway. Found the path. It goes through a large golf course which I didn’t even know existed. It also goes past a lovely little ruineded housey…
…which did have a door. Several of them. And an awful lot of holes in the walls…
Oh, and this was interesting. Not old, alas, but funneh all the same.
The Millennium whatsies were at the beginning of a path through Gatton Parklands, a place thoroughly over-marketed; “Discover Gatton!” Still, they had a couple of benches, so I can’t complain. They also had what would have been a nice view, had it not been for the grey cloudiness enveloping all the distant hills.
You can’t see it in this picture, but there were a lot of cows in that field. Not that it’s relevant. I just felt like mentioning it
I then proceeded to get completely lost. Even more so than before. I think I managed to end up on Reigate Hill… Well, some hill. Dunno which one. There are too many hills in England. Also, for some reason, there was a pavilion thing on top of said unidentified hill…
This would have been a very nice picture were it not for the splatter in the middle of the compassy thing
About this time I decided I was going back. And I wasn’t going to get distracted or try to take shortcuts. I was going to stick to the path and follow it all the way home.
I lasted about five minutes. Then I discovered a small house – probably not a house actually, but some kind of building... my mum has suggested it’s a bunker, and she probably right – half underground and covered over by brambles and nettles. And, being the silly person I am, I proceeded to clamber in through the window, only to discover a few moments later there was no door. “Who on earth makes a house with no door?! >.<” I managed to escape fairly easily, but I had to make a running jump for the window (being short is incredibly annoying sometimes) and got rather muddy in the process.
By now you would have thought I’d have learned my lesson. Ha. Only another…ooh, ten minutes? and I was deviating from the path again. This time to a random fort.
And fortunately, this place did have a door. A door inside a door, in fact.
Went for a wander around there. Not particularly good for photos as everything had been taken out and all the buildings locked up, but twas quite interesting.
Après là, I finally – miraculously – managed to stick to the path and get home. Yays! Took me about five hours all round, and I got soaked, stung, lost, covered in mud and never did end up finding Buckland. Ah well ^^
And, since I’m doing a photo spam anyway, have some more photos! *showers with photos* A few of these are from my uber-long walk, but most are from previous walks…
Pretty flowers! I haven’t done close up macro-y flower things for ages. Hmm, p’rhaps I should take more macro photos… *contemplates*
And now, having spammed you with far too many photos, I believe I shall make this the end. If you’ve actually managed to get this far without your computer crashing, I applaud you, and your computer too. You both deserve a cookie *offers* ^___^

That "ANDY WAS ERE" tag looks pretty demonic.
But my favourite has to be the photo of the hole. I would have never climbed down there, especially with no light!
I would probably die of fright if someone was actually down there.
Ahh, your so much more brave and adventurous than I am. ^__^
