More snow! ^^

Hello ^^ I’m being very journal-y with this at the moment, aren’t I? First my concert photos, now this... *shrugs* Ah well. I’m afraid I’m going to do it again. It’s like back when I was exploring places in Windsor Park; an update where none of it is really of any relevance at all, and of no interest either. I just randomly do these things. I think I said something once; if life doesn’t exist to your liking, live so it does. (I need to work on that. I like the concept of what its saying, but the words don’t work quite as well as they could…) So I go out and find pointless little caves and secret places go on uber-long walks… Just cause. *shrugs* And I also get to spam my LJ with photos ^^
So, documented in far more detail than necessary, with much overdramatic-ness and supplemented with many photos; Katy’s random walk in the snow! Yay… >>
So, Sunday afternoon just after I’d finished talking to Yoda, I set out with my camera on a quest for photos of the snow. Firstly I went up to the same wood that I’d been to before to take some of the last lot of snow pictures. Because woods are awesome for taking photos in *nods* The trees are all pretty and covered in snow, as such;
However, snow-covered trees are not such a good thing when you’re trying to walk along the paths beneath, as they keep lobbing snowballs on your head. Believe me. I got very wet.
This wouldn’t have been so bad if I could have just walked in the middle of the path and not gone too near the trees. But alas, that would have been too easy. The paths were, to put it mildly, a bit on the muddy side. The first path wasn’t too bad, since it was fairly small and disused. But the main public pathway was more of long thin bog than a path;
It was pretty much impossible to walk along the actual path, and if you stood in any one place on it for longer than a second you’d find your foot sunk several centimetres into the mud. (I think I may have ruined my boots finding that out ^^;; Ah well, they were only four pounds from a charity shop. Maybe now I’ll bother to get some proper walking boots like I’ve been meaning to…) It was also very, very slippery. I ended up walking right at the edge of the path on the snow, and having to grasp hold of the trees for balance – which of course caused more snow to fall onto my head ^^ (And I think I may have ruined my leggings as well – I was walking on top of the brambles and several times they managed to grasp onto me and probably make tears as I pulled away. Ah well, the leggings were also really cheap and had holes in them anyway (this is why I never buy clothes from normal shops ^^;;))
In any case, after a long stint down that large path I came to the higher, smaller path that runs through a strip of wood on top of a long thin hill above the public playing field. Though, it being on top of a hill, I had to first scramble up a short incline – very difficult with all the mud. I managed not to slip, though it was rather close at times, which is quite miraculous considering how I usually fare ^^;;
That path was a lot easier; it wasn’t as muddy, and there were several sections that I could actually walk down without having to wrench my foot out with each step. Which was just as well, since it was quite a long path ^^;;
That path eventually opened out into a wide open field. Being out in the open, the snow there was deep – surprisingly so. It was quite perturbing when my feet vanished unexpectedly ^^;;
(That’s my foot in a hole I’d just made in the snow ^^;; You can just about see a blade of grass indicating where the ground actually was…)
Luckily by this time I was quite used to hauling my feet out off the ground, and the snow wasn’t anywhere near as sticky as the mud ^^
For a fair while after that it was mostly just open fields;
I doubled back through the fields, heading back towards the playing field I mentioned earlier. During that stretch I came upon this odd little pond, which I thought looked quite funny with the contrast between the white snow-covered trees and the bright green of the reed-things;
More fields. The field after that pond was evil. It was potholed, sort of, and in each hole was a big muddy puddle. I had to be very careful not to tread in them – the water was already beginning to seep into my boots and I little wanted any more to get in. There were also two deer in that field ^^ I tried to get a photo of them, but they darted off before I could get my camera out again *sniffles* Still, you can just about see them running off here;
Ah, and then the fence. That was fun. In that last photo there’s a fence up the back; it doesn’t look that big, but it was about head height and I’m useless… So, I had to clamber over that. It wasn’t actually as bad as I was expecting – except when I jumped down on the other side and landed in a muddy patch and proceeded to get my boot stuck rather deep ^^;;
After managing to get my foot free I only had to traipse across the playing field, and then it was the relative safety of the roads for the rest of the way home. And that was my afternoon ^^
And finally, a few random photos that didn’t really fit in the chronology anywhere…
…See, I did warn you I was going to go into far, far more detail than could ever be warranted by such an everyday event >>;;
So, now that I’ve wasted the best part of an hour getting this up, perhaps I shall leave you poor people in peace ^^;; Ja ne!
His eyes were burning;
The light went out, the dream is lost…

Date: 2008-04-08 10:51 pm (UTC)Anyway! *points* Snow! Pretty! If muddy! But still pretty!
Why won't it snow here...? *hates moderate climate with no snow* >.<
I love the top two photos, the reeds and their funneh colour contrast and the fields. 'Specially the first field. *eyes shine* So beau-di-ful!
*huggles* You're such an awesome photographer, Katy!
Pssst: Don't worry about the details! It gives the photos character! Plus, details are like extra shiny-ness.
Now... lyrics ^^
Constantly ignoring,
The pain consuming me,
But this time it's
cut too deep,
I'll never stray again.
