Of Parks and Photospamming

Yesterday I said I’d give you a photospam if the place we were going to was sufficiently shiny, didn’t I? Well, it turns out the place was very pretty indeed, and thus, here is your promised photospam! ^^

So, it turns out we were going to visit a place named Tilgate Park, about half an hour drive from us. This was because there’s a big old building that was previously a kiosk and indoor play area thing for lease there; it is now being considered as a location for the ‘Hard Croc Café’ reptile park (though it’s doubtful that that will ever come to anything. It usually doesn’t.) Anyhow, we were all carted over there to suss out the terrain. Which, I can now say, is very pretty indeed. The building is right next door to a large children’s playground, and both are on top of a hill overlooking two massive lakes surrounded by forest.

I do like lakes. Especially surrounded by forest. That usually makes for some good landscape shots. Which is what most of these photos are, actually, but never mind. One day I shall find some variety in the subjects of my photos, perhaps - but yesterday wasn’t that day. Essentially I just walked round the lake, taking pictures from every angle. Until I wandered away from the lake and found an almost-formal garden type thing (and got rather lost in the process) anyway.

So, here we go. First, just a straightforward view over the lake. It’s pretty big…

It had lots of these little jetties all round it – it seemed quite a popular lake for fishing, so I imagine that these were for the fishers to sit on – and so I took quite a lot of these pictures with the lake framed by trees with a jetty sticking out. I didn’t realise before, but this one’s kinda dark. Never mind.

More lake, this time sans jetty, but still with tree and bonus flowers.

Jetties are back, and this time there’s two of them (they’re making up for the last jetty-less photo). You can play ‘spot the fisherman’ in this one.

And we have a shot with no water in! *shock horror* The path veered away from the lake a bit around this point, y’see.

That didn’t stop me wandering the smaller, slightly overgrown paths down to yet more jetties, from which I took the next photo. Reflections make me happy =3

I then wandered further and found a few paths that led completely away from the lake, and being curious (perhaps stupidly, knowing my sense of direction (or lack thereof) >>;;) I followed them to find the sort of semi-formal landscaped garden I mentioned before. This is just a little bridge and pond from around that area.

There were also a lot of shiny plants in those gardens. And it seemed like ages since I’d taken any photos of flowers, so at least one photo of a flower was required, and these were pretty *nods* I think it’s just about in focus?

I also found a rather interesting tree. I have no idea what type of tree it was, but it was amazingly pretty. It must have had tens, if not hundreds of these boughs, and each bough was like a carpet of flowers. This photo is a close-up of just one of them…

It was very impressive from a distance, with all the boughs together. Unfortunately the photo I took of it was into the sun and it came out impossible to see *fails*

Anyway, I more or less managed to find my way back after that, but I stumbled across one more somewhat bemusing little feature…

What are those things supposed to be? They were just sitting there in the middle of the field… it was quite bizarre.

But yes. There you have it; one photospam.

So, when were you going to come over? ^^

I promise you we’ll find a way
To make a pathway home
I’ll carry you; you’re not alone…
